Leave Your 9-5
Catapult Your Business To The Next Level
Leave the 9-5 Mindset and Change Your Brain
Want to know what sets the uber-successful apart from the wannabe entrepreneurs?
It’s not money, or brilliant ideas, or even powerful friends.
They set themselves up to expect triumph. They positioned their brain for success.
Now I want to get a little scientific on you. Hark with me, to a different time. Way way back to that throwaway psychology course you took to get through University.
The picture below illustrates our hierarchy of needs as a human.
(Maslow's Hierarchy of needs.)
Notice our basic human needs include food, water, warmth, etc. But the next need is security, and your inner critic, your subconcious mind, fights dirty to keep that security in place. Fear and change; branching into the unknown, all these things can trigger your inner-critic.
You can reach all day long for Esteem needs or Self Actualizing, but until you settle your mind and shift your subconcious thought, you will lose the battle with yourself!
Your inner critic is AFRAID. And SECURITY and SAFETY are more powerful motivators than your need to be actualized. Here's the pattern, see if it applies to you?
You convince yourself your ideas are no good and you're not smart enough.
You’re certain someone else did it (whatever “it” is) better.
You procrastinate and make pretty Instagram posts.
You stop talking to prospects.
You blame your children or your job or your coach.
And before you know it, you’ll have talked yourself right out of launching your new program, going live on YouTube, and writing your book.
In no time at all, you’ll be back at your day job, working on someone else’s business because you don’t have the confidence to create your own.
But a simple mindset change can make all the difference.
Dress for Success
Ladies, this one is for you. When we work at home, it’s easy to fall into a habit of wearing sweatpants and T-shirts to the office. After all, why dress up just for the dog?
For me, sometimes I'm alone the entire workday, not even a dog here. But I get much more done when I dress, do my hair and put on makeup. Plus I'm more likely to go live in a group or put up a spontaneous YouTube 3 point video!
If you want a quick, easy way to instantly shift your mindset in the right direction, ditch the yoga pants and break out the lipstick. You’ll feel professional, confident, and sexier, too. (That last one won’t help your business, but it might just help your love life, and that can’t hurt, can it?)
Never Let Fear Drive Your Decisions
Too many would-be entrepreneurs operate with a scarcity mindset rather than approaching business from a place of abundance.
Abundance is an abiguous term, but it means you have everything you need already. You honestly don't need another course to fix yourself. Or another niche. Or a pretty insta-feed.
Rather than telling yourself that you can’t afford to hire a virtual assistant or work with a coach, try reframing your thoughts. A coaching trick is to reframe them in present perfect tense.
Present perfect has already happened or is currently your reality. Your subconcious doesn't know truth or falsehoods, it believes exactly what you tell it!
If you're saying "I am afraid this isn't good enough!" Your subconcious believes it and won't let you lauch! It's sabotage by subconcious! !
Instead, reframe your thoughts. "I can't afford a coach." becomes "I can hire a coach because my calendar is booked out and there is money everywhere. A coach opens up money floodgates for a larger windfall!"
Rather than saying, “I have to do everything myself because I can’t afford to hire a VA,” remind yourself that your hourly rate potential is much more than you’d pay a virtual assistant. Then say out loud, "My VA saves me so much time, I book 3 new clients a week now!" Fill the hours you’re saving by outsourcing with money-making tasks of your own.
By reformatting your thoughts, you’ll turn that negative money talk into positive solutions that help you grow.
Don't Forget Affirmations
Probably the biggest shift you will make with a coach comes from affirmations. Present perfect tenses of things you want to come true. You'll say them aloud at least 10 times each. i like to record my affirmations with an app called Thinkup. Record your own affirmations and then listen to those affirmations accompanied by meditative music.
For instance, my affirmations deal with abundance, like "I follow my passions and have enough money to live a high quality life, with plenty to share with others in need!" Another affirmation, "I think, talk, act, walk, breathe and perform as the million dollar business owner I am!"
Whatever your affirmation, say it out loud or record yourself! Be sure and phrase it as something that is currently happening, right now. Your subconcious wants to believe you. Give it good material, shift your mind, and prepare for big, bold changes in your business.
And don't be surprised when you receive them.
